Biography alonso del Río

He was born in Peru in 1962. His first approach to sacred plants was with only 15 years through the wachuma (Echinopsis pachanoi). This experience aroused such concern that two years later he dropped out of university and traveled to the Amazon rainforest. Here he tried ayahuasca, and for 13 years he studied its uses with the Shipibo.

In 1992 he returned to the city of Lima, where he lived for ten years sharing his learning and directing ceremonies. Then he moved to the Sacred Valley of the Incas where he currently directs and carries out activities in a healing and teaching center that receives people from all over the world.

In 2001 he published his first album of medicine music, and in 2013 he published his first book: “Tawantinsuyo: Cosmovisión Andina”.

In 2014 he held the first medicine music festival, bringing together artists from various parts of the world.

Currently Alonso directs his healing center providing ceremonies, diets, vision seeking and other practices as tools for the integrity of the human being. To date as a musician he has released 9 albums.

Together with his family, he is part of the Wiñaypaq educational project, which provides public education to children from Taray, one of the eight districts of the Province of Calca, located in the Department of Cusco.

He also led the process of creating the Bahuaja Private Conservation Area, an Amazonian natural reserve located in the district and province of Tambopata, in the Madre de Dios region, within the buffer zone of the Tambopata National Reserve, which conserves and sow medicinal plants protecting biodiversity.
